Resources and Guides for Recreational Saltwater Fishing in New Hampshire

New Hampshire Recreational Saltwater Fishing

Fish coastal New Hampshire, where the cold blue Atlantic Ocean meets the rocky shoreline, and the "big ones" are just waiting for a bite. Striped bass are by far the most sought after saltwater fish in our coastal waters, but you can also bring home bluefish, flounder or mackerel.

Effective this Friday, May 26, and for the remainder of the 2023 season, recreational striped bass anglers may take, posses, or transport only one fish between 28 inches and less than 31 inches per day. All other striped bass rules remain unchanged and in effect.

Saltwater Fishing License Requirement:

All persons age 16 and older recreationally fishing in coastal and estuarine waters of the state must purchase a NH Saltwater Recreational Fishing License. This includes anglers, spearfishers and persons using other gear types who wish to take, possess, or transport marine finfish for personal use and which are not sold.
