NH Moose Season Dates and Resources
New Hampshire's moose hunt is nine consecutive days starting the third Saturday in October. October 19- October 27, 2024
Moose hunting is by permit for a wildlife management unit (WMU). This permit system allows the Department to control the number and location of moose taken by hunters.
As part of a sound management strategy, the moose hunt has been an annual event in New Hampshire since 1988. The moose population, which was only about 50 animals in 1950 had grown to over 1,600 by the time of the first moose hunt in 1988, when 75 permits were issued primarily for the northern part of the state.
For those lucky winners who take part in the hunt, it is often the adventure of a lifetime.

Registration requirements
The items below must be presented at the registration station:
- The permittee and person who shot the moose with their hunting license(s), moose permit, and diary card.
- The following parts of the moose:
- Ovaries
- Lower jaw
- Intact rack
- All edible portions of the meat
- Blood (optional)
